The start of summer usually means pumped up gas prices.  But in the past week, prices have dropped seven cents.

So what's fueling an usually summer of cheap gas? AAA Wisconsin officials said  don't get too excited, prices are where they should be.

In the past couple of weeks, the price at the pump spiked because of refinery maintenance issues. Those problems have now been fixed.

Here's a look at gas prices right now:
  • In Milwaukee, the average price is $2.55 per gallon
  • Across the state, most drivers are paying $2.45 per gallon
  • The national average is $2.34 per gallon
So will drivers here in Wisconsin cruise through the summer shelling out more dough to drive? AAA said it's all about supply and demand, and right now the supply is strong.

AAA also said compared to a year ago,  we are looking at a cheap driving season. Last summer, drivers were paying nearly $2.80 per gallon to fill up.
