WAUWATOSA -- A new health clinic offering comprehensive primary and preventive care to people who identify as LGBTQ will open this July on the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin academic medical center campus in Wauwatosa.

The Froedtert and MCW Inclusion Health Clinic will be the first of its kind in the state of Wisconsin. Offering programs tailored to the healthcare needs of the LGBTQ community.

President and chief executive officer of Froedtert Health Cathy Jacobson said that the decision to establish an Inclusion Health Clinic also was based on research studies indicating that culturally competent care can encourage members of the LGBTQ population to seek medical treatment.

"For us, diversity and inclusion is a commitment to not only do what is right in terms of healthcare delivery for our patients, but also a commitment to the future as we work to transform healthcare and connect all communities to the best of academic medicine," she said.

The Inclusion Health Clinic is scheduled to open July 16. More information about the clinic will be available on Froedtert's website
