A woman is missing and feared dead after a fire ripped through an apartment building in Plymouth Thursday morning.

A Plymouth Police spokesperson says 47-year-old Tammy Aschenbach went back inside the burning building thinking her children were inside and never returned. She is officially listed as missing. Her children are physically O.K. according to police.

Neighbors say Aschenbach would do anything for anyone and not think twice about going back inside the building.

“She would go back in a fricken heartbeat, no doubt about it no second thought, nothing,” said Nikki Lane.

Lane and everyone else in all six of the building’s apartments lost everything.

“It was black. I was scared. I had to get my kid out. That was the only thing in my head get Lauren get Lauren out. We can’t die in there… we lost everything. Everything is gone we have nothing left,” Nicole Marcotte said.

At the height of fighting the fire officials say there were more than 130 firefighters on scene. at least one from every firehouse in Sheboygan County. Two residents and a firefighter were treated for minor injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
