Freezing rain causes power outages for over 2,000 across southeast Wisconsin

Over 2,000 residents across southeast Wisconsin are experiencing power outages due to the weather.

Just before 6:30 a.m., over 2,700 residents were without power: the largest outages seen throughout Kenosha, Racine, Washington and Waukesha County.

According to a We Energies representative, ice is weighing down branches causing them to break off or bend down onto power lines. Crews are taking a little longer to get to areas due to the conditions.
Crews hope to have the outages cleared by 9 a.m. or sooner.
