GREENFIELD -- A 22-year-old man was crushed to death while trying to change the tire on a van Tuesday afternoon.

Greenfield police tried to revive the man behind a lawn sprinkler business, but it was too late.

A witness told TODAY'S TMJ4 he could hear someone screaming for help near south 60th Street and Forest Home Avenue.

He said he quickly grabbed a jack and ran over to find an officer already there.

"He was doing chest compressions on him and trying to keep him alive or keep him revived and so forth," Mike Gappa said. "We just tried what we could and it was too late."

Greenfield police said the man from Franklin and was working on his personal vehicle.

His name has not been released.
