MILWAUKEE -- There was a celebration on the Milwaukee streetcar Saturday, for someone who has a unique history tied to "The Hop."

Milwaukee native Gordon Hollis Herrell celebrated his 98th birthday on "The Hop."

Gordon drove the original Milwaukee streetcar back in the 1940's -- after returning from World War II.

His son, Chad, remembers the story his father would tell.

"He said it was real fast," said Chad. "Because he'd push the peddle and go. Zoom around. Always talking about zooming around the city. So, it's exciting we have a streetcar again and can ride it again."

Saturday was the first time Gordon rode the new streetcar.
