Florentine Opera Company’s general director’s resignation was related to sexual misconduct, according to a news release from the organization.
On May 9 William Florescu resigned from the opera company. The organization later received information that Florescu had violated the company's policies and prohibitions concerning sexual misconduct.
“We take any complaint of such misconduct seriously, investigate it thoroughly and impartially and act with purpose and urgency to hold those who violate the values of the Florentine Opera accountable,” the release said.
The Florentine has begun the search for his replacement for the start of the 2018-2019 season.
