Police say a 12-year-old girl's sexual assault claim that led to the arrest of five males was "baseless"

The girl reported she was sexually assaulted near S. 23rd Street and W. National Avenue around 4 p.m. Monday.

Police took the suspects into custody and were looking for one more.

Police said Tuesday the girl has recanted her statement.

As of 1:30 p.m., a police spokesman said if the individuals "haven't all been released yet, they will be shortly."
