MILWAUKEE — Firefighters are working to put out a house fire on Milwaukee's north side.
The fire broke out at a home shortly before 4:00 a.m. Monday near 17th and Atkinson.
Firefighters say the fire started in the kitchen, and was later spotted coming through the roof. The fire is not considered suspicious.
Firefighters also thought a woman was in the house, but police believe they have located her at a nursing home, and are now working to confirm that.
The investigation into what started the fire is ongoing.
