One person was killed in a shooting at a West Allis apartment Sunday morning.

It happened shortly before 7 a.m. at the building in the 2300 block of South 92nd Street.

The medical examiner has been called to the scene and confirms at least one fatality in the shooting.

Police say that their preliminary information indicates it was not a random shooting.

The suspect they are looking for has some sort of connection to the four family apartment building where the shooting took place, however police do not have a good description of the gunman.

West Allis Police say officers were called to the building after receiving a report of a burglary in progress. The call was upgraded to include shots fired.

A woman at the scene tells TODAY's TMJ4 that the victim is her 41-year-old son, but police would not confirm the identity of the victim.

Several squad cars and officers have also assembled at a church close to the crime scene at 62nd and Greenfield, but police haven’t confirmed whether its related to the shooting.
