An Oconomowoc man was sentenced to life in prison Friday for killing his girlfriend in the apartment they shared.

The crime happened in 2016. Two years later, the victim's family says they're finally getting justice.

Christina's brother, John Schuster, stayed with her and Lee at their Oconomowoc apartment. He is the one who found her dead from a gunshot wound to the head.

“You killed the only person that really invested in you,” John said in court today. He says he hopes Lee will spend the rest of his life in a ward of the state.

The victim’s mother, Eileen Schuster, also had words for Lee. “You took my baby girl. You took her from me. There will be no forgiveness for you, from me,” she said.

Prosecutors referred to Lee's criminal history of domestic abuse, citing that Christina had reported to her supervisor she was afraid to go home.

Lee admitted to physically abusing her, but says, “It wasn’t ever a beat down...I did positively impact her life, that's why we were together for so long.”

Lee will serve a life sentence with no chance of parole.
