The family of a 15-year-old girl shot inside her north side Milwaukee home Monday held a vigil Tuesday afternoon as they continue to search for answers.
Melanie Johnson was shot inside the kitchen of her home in the 5500 block of N. 35th Street.
Milwaukee Police say the shots were fired from outside the home.
"They shot four times and then when she dropped in the hallway," Melanie's little sister, Twana Townsend, said.
It's unclear whether Melanie was targeted in the shooting. Police have not said whether they have any suspects in the case.
"Hopefully they get their job done and don't just let my sister's case go into a cold case file," said Kendra Haney, Melanie's older sister. "I'm hoping and praying that we get justice. We need justice."
Johnson's family says the violence in Milwaukee has to stop.
On Dec. 7, Milwaukee police investigated another homicide down the road on West Thurston.
TODAY'S TMJ4 asked police whether the two shootings are connected, but a Milwaukee police spokesperson said "they are being treated as two separate cases."
