WAUKESHA -- The Waukesha County Fair was shut down temporarily as severe weather hit Thursday night. Officials had everyone evacuate into buildings for about an hour before the all clear was given.

"We wandered inside and the everyone was rushing in at that point," Jessica Lemke said.

The fair even moved a beer stand inside so people could keep enjoying the night while the waited out the weather.

For two little girls, they had big plans before the storm hit -- they were waiting for a ride.

"The ponies!" Autumn Rego said.

"They have a pony ride out there," Willow Marks said.

But the evacuation ended their day at the fair.

For one fair regular, he said there always seems to be one bad weather day during the week.

"It seems like this is a tradition at the fair, bad weather, so we're used to it," Larry Pesch said. "Once it's over we'll go back and have fun."

The fair opened again when the severe weather passed. It runs until Sunday.
