Expect significant backups before and after Sunday's Green Bay Packers game against the Detroit Lions, says the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

Fans heading up north are being told to pack their patience because of high traffic volumes and several construction projects through the area that will slow things down.

The Department of Transportation says it's best to start preparing now for the noon game at Lambeau Field. By packing up and heading out early and having a list of alternate routes handy, the major construction in various surrounding counties may not cause you too much trouble.

Reduced speeds, restricted and closed lanes throughout Brown, Winnebago,Outagamie, Calument, Oconto, and Marinette counties are to be expected. The biggest trouble spots are I-41, WIS 172 and I-43 in Brown County.

Delays are expected to last three hours before and after the game. Construction on Lineville Road, down I-41, to Onieda Street is expected to cause one of the larger headaches. Those planning to us the alternate route, Ashland Avenue, will also see delays through De Pere and Ashwaubenon.

Free roadside assistance will be available to drivers in Brown County from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. The Freeway Service Team will be first responders to any stalled or minor crashed vehicles. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation you should still call 911 if you're in an accident. But The Freeway Service Team will be able to safely remove your cars from traffic while you wait for state patrol.
