East Side's Tomato Romp Festival kicks off this weekend

The East Side is hosting the 12th annual Tomato Romp Festival this Saturday starting at 10 a.m.

The day begins with the Absolut Vodka Bloody Mary Challenge hosted by the eight of the East Side's favorite bars and restaurants. Those of legal drinking age can register for the event and will receive five ounce samples of Bloody Marys from the different establishments as well as three ounce beer chasers. 

The big event of the festival however is the Rotten Tomato Fight for Hunger which will begin at 4 p.m. 8,000 pounds of inedible, over-ripe tomatoes will be brought in by Maglio & Company for the fight. You must be 16 years old or older to participate with all proceeds going to the Riverwest Food Pantry.
