Driver hits Mount Pleasant squad, speeds off

MOUNT PLEASANT -- A police officer was nearly run over while responding to a call in Mount Pleasant Wednesday night.
 
The incident happened at 10:23 p.m. near 16th Street and Green Bay Road.
 
Mount Pleasant police said the officer parked his van, and as he was getting out he noticed a vehicle quickly coming toward him.
 
The officer was able to jump back into the van, just before the vehicle sideswiped the squad door and sped off.
 
Officials said the driver of the dark-colored sedan did not stop and continued east on 16th Street.
 
The officer was not injured during the incident.
