STURGEON BAY (NBC 26) -- Sturgeon Bay Police say they arrested a driver for a third OWI offense after she crashed into a shed early Sunday morning.

Just before 2 a.m. Sunday, a police officer tried to pull over a car for a traffic violation. Police say the car hit a curb, crossed the center line and was speeding.

Police say the car sped away from the officer. Eventually, as the officer caught up to the car, police say the car drove off the roadway and crashed into a large storage shed in the 600 block of North 8th Avenue in Sturgeon Bay.

The driver was injured and taken to the hospital. She was charged with a third offense OWI, as well as possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding, and fleeing/eluding an officer. She was taken to Door County Jail after being released from the hospital.

Police also noted another OWI arrest this weekend, in which a driver and a passenger were found to be under the influence of meth. The driver in that case was arrested.

Sturgeon Bay Police say the department has made a total of 10 drunk driving/drugged driving arrests in September.
