A Waukesha man was arrested after driving a forklift on the streets of Menomonee Falls.

We are not releasing his name as formal charges have not been filed. According to the police report, on the Fourth of July a Menomonee Falls Police Officer was driving south on Lilly Road toward Mill Road when he saw the forklift. He flagged down the forklift to tell the man what he was doing was illegal but the man said he does this for a living and he was going to his home nearby. He also told police he had an orange "slow moving vehicle" sign on the forklift.

During the dashcam video, the officer approaches the forklift and starts talking to the man. In the police report, the officer says the driver only identified himself by his first name and refused to give any sort of identification. The officer says he asked the man to step down from the vehicle approximately 10 times before he did so.

When the man had stepped down from the forklift, the officer told him to approach the squad car and he refused. In the video, the man crosses his arms in front of his chest and the officer approaches him to try and handcuff him.

According to the police report, the man actively resisted and attempted to pull away from the officer. When the officer tried to push the man against the forklift, telling him to place his hands behind his back, the officer says the man grabbed onto the left front frame of the forklift and refused to let go. Then, the officer pulled out his taser to get him on the ground. The man laid down on the ground, propping his head up until other officers arrived and arrested him.

Formal charges have not been filed against the man but police say he was given municipal citations for resisting/obstructing an officer, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, non-registration of other vehicle and written warnings for operating a vehicle without stop lights and operating without directional lights.

At the man's last known address, he had a forklift in his driveway but did not answer the door to give his side of what happened.
