Dogs rescued from a meat farm in South Korea are getting a second chance at a future in southeast Wisconsin.
Five of the rescued dogs arrived at HAWS in Waukesha County Thursday. Others were taken to the Sheboygan County Humane Society.
Caregivers say the dogs are much more social than they were expecting.
“It seems like they know they have got it made now,” said Jennifer Smieja of HAWS. “We've been rescued. We are free!”
The dogs need to be evaluated before they can be put up for adoption.
HAWS expects more to arrive over the next few weeks.
