The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office released footage Friday of a high-speed chase that ended with a deputy shooting and killing the driver.

The chase happened last year in October. On Friday, the sheriff announced the deputy who fired his weapon has been cleared in the shooting.

Law enforcement was called out to a report of reckless driving in Waukesha County. Deputies spotted the car, driven by Sean Dutcher, and tried to pull him over.

The video shows deputies try a PIT maneuver twice to stop him.

The second time, the SUV comes to a stop. Deputies got out and demanded the driver stop.

When Dutcher hit the gas, Deputy Peter Wisnefsky fired into the SUV a dozen times.

The SUV went over a grassy area and crashed into a business. Dutcher died at the scene.

The District Attorney’s Office said Friday Wisnefsky was justified.

Dutcher had more than twice the legal blood alcohol limit of the shooting. He was on extended supervision for his fifth OWI.
