All southbound lanes on I-43 were shut down at Capitol Drive Friday evening.
The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office said a witness reportedly saw a person shooting at another car on I-43 near Atkinson and Burleigh.
At 3:45 p.m. Milwaukee police said a victim drove to a local precinct with bullet holes in his car, which is when deputies closed off the highway to search for evidence.
They searched from Silver Spring to North Avenue but didn't find anything. The only description of the shooter's vehicle was that it's a dark older model car.
This is the third time in a few months that a situation like this has happened on the freeway. The last two times we’re shooting.
The sheriff did make an arrest for the I-43 shooting in September. That one was connected to an incident in the workplace.
