On Monday, authorities in Antigo held a press conference to thank law enforcement and chaperons for they're immediate response on Saturday night.
Police had very little updates on the former student they say shot and injured two seniors, a couple, while leaving prom.
The shooting is now being investigated by Wisconsin's Division of Criminal Investigation and the officer who shot and killed the suspect has been placed on administrative leave.
Antigo police still do not know what motive the suspect, Jakob Wagner, may have had. Antigo Police Chief Eric Roller said allegations of serious bullying are been looked at.
On Sunday several items were recovered from the suspect's home.
At approximately 11 p.m. a police officer doing a routine check heard the gunfire and quickly responded before the suspect had a chance to enter the field house.
"We believe it could have been much worse had he entered the prom and it would have been difficult to contain the situation," said Roller.
During the press conference, Roller also read a statement written by the parents of a the male student shot in the leg. The victims family, who did not want to be identified, thanked every who helped their son. They also acknowledged the suspect's family loss.
“Please also pray for Jakob Wagner. As much as we are struggling through this event we cannot imagine the grief they are experiencing at this time.”
