TODAY’S TMJ4 is uncovering more information about a crash in Sheboygan that sent a mother and her son to the hospital in late September.

Deputies said the driver, DeAngelo Smith, may have hit speeds upward of 100 mph when he hit another vehicle from behind, causing that crash.

The mother’s car was surrounded by fire in a ditch, southbound on I-43. Deputies said the woman suffered several back injuries and the child suffered minor injuries.

Court records show Smith was under the influence and was given a breathalyzer test. He was heading south from Green Bay.

"He was coming from Green Bay. I saw him at 100 mph," one witness told deputies on a dashboard camera.

Raphael Tatum’s car was hit from behind. He managed to help the woman and child escape the care.

"The young lady, she could not walk. She couldn't move. She just had to lay there," Tatum said.

Court records show Smith’s license was suspended in 2013.
