A 20-year-old Mt. Horeb woman is fighting for her life after a serious crash over the weekend, but police say that didn't stop a couple of people connected to the same underage drinking party from mocking the situation.

The woman was thrown from the bed of a pickup truck and left in the roadway with severe head injuries Sunday.

According to the Dane County Sheriff's Department, the woman was at an underage drinking party in the town of Springdale attended by more than 100 people before the crash.

When deputies were investigating the crash at the home where the party took place, they say someone took a picture of a 22-year-old man and woman posing next to a squad car holding a "Must be 21 to Drink" sign. The picture was posted to Snapchat with the caption #wisconsinsfinest.

Investigators say many of the people at the party fled, and the ones who remained were not cooperative.

"The fact that young people in attendance would make light of the incident while their friend fights for her life, highlights why Wisconsin’s culture of drinking must be addressed,” Dane County Sheriff David Mahoney said.

The victim remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

Dekota Edge, 19, of Blue Mounds, was charged with reckless driving causing great bodily harm.
