CUDAHY -- Lucky, the young fox pup who gained notoriety on social media after a rat trap clamped on his front paw, has made a full recovery and has been released back into the wild, according to the Wisconsin Humane Society.

The 5-month-old fox has been in treatment at the Humane Society's Wildlife Rehabilitation Center since early September.

The rat trap caused significant tissue damage and multiple fractures in his paw, the Humane Society says. Despite the extensive damage, Lucky has "healed completely."

Lucky was released back into the wild Thursday afternoon in the Warnimont golf course's parking lot. Here's hoping he can keep his paws out of harm's way for the forseeable future.
