TOWN OF HEBRON -- Eight people were injured in Jefferson County Friday morning when the bus they were on crashed.

Jefferson County Sheriff Paul Milbrath says deputies were alerted to the crash at about 7:18 a.m. Friday morning. An initial investigation revealed that the small transport bus was driving west on State Highway 106 when it traveled across the eastbound lane, traveling into the ditch and striking a utility pole.

All seven passengers, as well as the bus driver, were taken to "several medical facilities," the sheriff said. There's no word on their condition at this time. Med Flight and Flight for Life crews also responded to the scene.

"It's a winding county road. It has curves and there's a hill. A few years ago they re-did a portion to make it safer," says Lindsey Bickle.

She lives right by the crash. She's lived here her entire life and says this isn't the first accident on this stretch of road. She thinks the road is dangerous.

"It's just sad you think about all the families. There are so many people that were injured. That's a lot of injuries."

The bus was operated by Lavigne Bus Co. of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin.
