Crash ends in car fire after driver flees from traffic stop

Hales Corners police are investigating a car accident which left one car on fire, near the intersection of 76th Street and Layton Avenue early Wednesday morning. 

The incident started when police attempted to stop the driver for speeding on Forest Home Avenue. To evade police, the driver drove the wrong way on Layton Avenue and ran a red light at 76th Street and crashed into another car. The crash caused that driver's car to set on fire. 

Hales Corners police say the man had four warrants out for his arrest. He was taken to Froedtert and is recovering from his injuries.
