MADISON, Wis. - Henning’s Cheese announced Wednesday it is voluntarily recalling a limited amount of its Colby Jack cheese due to a temporary pasteurizer malfunction.

Due to the malfunction, the company in Kiel cannot verify that the cheese was properly pasteurized, according to a release.
No illnesses have been reported related to the issue, and no other cheese products are affected by the recall, officials said.

About 1,000 pounds of the cheese was distributed statewide, according to the release.

The recall only affects Colby Jack cheese sold on or after April 10 in 1- and 2-pound blocks. The product will have a date code of 1007 on a small label on the bottom of the cheese block.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled cheese are urged to return it to the place of purchase or to Henning’s Cheese for a full refund. The company's phone number is (920) 894-3032.
