Milwaukee restaurant Chubby's Cheesesteaks is planning to add a fifth location in the area with a new shop in the city's Walker's Point neighborhood, TODAY'S TMJ4 partner, the Milwaukee Business Journal reported Friday.
The eatery, which specializes in cheesesteaks, gyros and other fare, is aiming to open its new restaurant in August at 605 S. First St. It will occupy the storefront formerly home to Taco Bandito, located next to Cafe India.
At 900 square feet, the new dining spot will be smaller than Chubby's locations in Brookfield and Glendale, said general manager Jessica Meyer. And it also won't serve breakfast or feature as large of a menu as its other eateries.
Rather, the menu at the Walker's Point location will focus on Chubby's most popular dishes, which includes burgers, wings, specialty sandwiches and, of course, cheesesteaks. The eatery is located in the Walker's Point Plaza, a retail strip also home to a Mobil gas station, so the goal is to get people in and out quickly, Meyer said.
Owned by Shorewood natives and brothers Mazin and Murad Hamdan, Chubby's Cheesesteaks was founded in 2007 with the opening of its first restaurant on Milwaukee's east side and now operates eateries in Brookfield, Glendale and West Milwaukee.
As we reported last fall, the business continues to explore opening more locations in Oak Creek and Madison, Meyer said.
The new Walker's Point Chubby's will be open 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 3 a.m. weekends.
