MILWAUKEE -- Incumbent Chris Abele has won re-election to the position of Milwaukee County Executive, triumphing over challenger and State Senator Chris Larson.
620 WTMJ and TODAY'S TMJ4 called the race late in the process of counting votes. 620 WTMJ called it at about 9:37 p.m.
TODAY'S TMJ4 called the race with 87 percent of precincts reporting. At that time, Abele had a sizeable lead with 56 percent of the vote compared to 44 percent for Larson.
"We're going to think bigger. We're going to aim even higher, and we're going to push even harder. We've made progress on our fiscal condition. We are in much better shape than we were," said Abele during his victory speech.
"I'm not going to waste your time looking for fights. I'm going to spend my time, and it's what I like doing anyway, looking for partners and solutions."
