The Centers for Disease Control has confirmed the first human-to-human transmission of the coronavirus in the United States, according to CNBC.

The new patient with the virus is the spouse of the Chicago woman who reportedly brought it back from Wuhan, China on Jan. 13.

The virus has killed at least 171 people in China and infected more than 8,000.

Right now, the CDC recommends travelers avoid all nonessential travel to the Hubei Province in China. People traveling to other parts of China are advised to practice certain health precautions like avoiding contact with people who are sick and practicing good hand hygiene.
