MOUNT PLEASANT, WI — There's a new meaning to the phrase "drive-thru" as a car experiencing mechanical issues drove through a Burger King signboard in Mount Pleasant this afternoon, causing the car to catch fire.

South Shore Fire Department was notified of a fire at the Burger King on Highway 20 at East Frontage Road in Mount Pleasant around 3 p.m. The fire was found to be contained to the car and not the building.

The fire has been ruled accidental as the driver was driving down East Frontage Road and heard a noise, saw smoke and pulled into the Burger King parking lot. As the driver pulled in, the brakes stopped functioning and the driver jumped out of the car. The drive-thru sign board stopped the car as the fire extended into the passenger cabin, according to the release.

No injuries were reported and the fire was extinguished quickly.
