MILWAUKEE -- A car knocked over several headstones during a late night crash Sunday on the Milwaukee's northwest side.
According to Milwaukee Police, the crash happened just after 10 p.m. at the Holy Cross Cemetery near the intersection of 74th Street and Lisbon Avenue.
Police say the driver of the car plowed through the fence and then took off.
When the sun came up Monday morning, there were tire tracks over several graves and several headstones were damaged.
Neighbors say this isn't the first time a driver has plowed through the fence running over headstones. They believe too many drivers speed in that area.
Representatives for the cemetery say they will contact the families of the headstones that were damaged.
