Snow removal services are in great demand this time of year, but unfortunately, it can be difficult to find someone reliable and who will do a great job.
If you are in need of good service from a dependable provider, here are a few things that you can do to protect yourself and check things out:
Get referrals and check out the reputation of the provider.
Get more than one estimate that includes cost, details of the type of service to be performed, and terms and conditions on who will provide service, when, and how services will be performed.
Get a detailed, signed contract with the provider’s street address and phone number, along with proof of insurance. And, think twice before paying in full for the entire season.
If you need help shoveling snow, but cannot afford the cost, contact your local municipality to ask about services that are sometimes provided by volunteers.
If you experience a problem with a snow removal service that you are unable to resolve, contact consumer resources like the Better Business Bureau or our Call 4 Action office.
