If you plan to stay in town and do some shopping this weekend, listen up. Karen Stiles of our Call 4 Action office has some tips on how to get some great deals on outdoor and summer merchandise.
If you are thinking about replacing grills, outdoor furniture, or perhaps your summer wardrobe, this is a great time to hit the stores and snatch up some huge bargains. Though it may seem that summer just got here, Fourth of July weekend is a time when many retailers are in a hurry to clear out summer merchandise.
However, before you buy, make sure that you check out return policies and that you check over merchandise to be sure that it is what you want and is not defective. If you wait until next summer to try out your purchase, and learn that it is defective or not to your liking, it may be too late to exercise a warranty or get your money back.
Also shop around, including online. If you find a better deal, ask a merchant if they will meet or beat the price.
If you already bought something and now find it on sale, bring back your receipt, and ask the store if they can offer a price adjustment. This might also work with an online merchant, simply by making a call or sending an e-mail, and asking for a credit.
And, keep in mind, although there are a number of good bargains this weekend, not everything will be a good deal. You may need to wait a week or two for prices to come down further.
