Bubblers have returned to Racine!

Mayor John Dickert is spearheading the effort.

“When I was growing up here in Racine, we had bubblers all over the city,” Dickert tells 620 WTMJ'S Wisconsin’s Morning News.

“It was great because no matter where you were, if you were playing sports or out walking around, you always knew there was someplace that you could grab a drink of water. What better thing to do than to provide our citizens and our kids a great drinking source, and bring bubblers back!”

New rules and regulations require bubblers' return flow to be caught up in a sewer system.

“All the older bubblers were really taken offline because it was expensive to put in that sewer line,” adds Dickert. “What we’re doing, is we’re looking at anytime we do a new development, we tap into the new lines that are going in so that we can try to put a bubbler up wherever we can.”
