A 35-year-old man was pulled from Lake Geneva after drowning Sunday afternoon, Lake Geneva police said.

The man and another person were swimming from a boat moored off near the municipal beach at 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Police said the other person made it to the shore but did not see the 35-year-old man. The witness said he went back into the water to try and find the man but did not find him, then thought the man had already made it to the shore.

After not finding him for several hours, the police were called at 6:40 p.m.

The man was found under the water in approximately 10 feet of water and he was recovered at 8:30 p.m.

The victim is a Wheeling, Illinois resident, but has not been identified to the public until next of kin is notified.
