MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee Water Works is making residents aware of private water treatment companies going door-to-door offering to test your water.
These private companies have been going door-to-door offering to test your tap water. If residents are not home, they simply leave a door hanger telling you to call them as soon as possible.
Now, Milwaukee DPW is making sure people are aware that these visits and door hangers are not from Milwaukee Water Works.
A private water treatment company not associated with Milwaukee’s Water Works is going door-to-door, offering to test the tap water. MWW is not in business with this company and @cityofmilwaukee does not endorse them. See https://t.co/h9rJ8J07Xf Alerts and Advisories. pic.twitter.com/qQhryCqu60

On the City of Milwaukee website, it says these private companies are not endorsed by Milwaukee Water Works, and you are not required to have your water tested or purchase their systems.
In addition to this statement, the city is reminding people to be aware of potential impostors posing as utility employees. When someone appears at your door claiming to be from the utility company, be sure to verify that they are in fact an employee of that company.
There have been reports of people posing as these employees, getting into the home, and stealing jewelry or other possessions.
