WAUWATOSA -- The costume and party supplies store Bartz's is closing its longtime location in Wauwatosa, the Milwaukee Business Journal reported Monday.

The shop, 6931 W. North Ave., will shut its doors at the end of the day on Monday, store supervisor Jon Polinske told the Milwaukee Business Journal. On Monday, employees at the Wauwatosa store were packing up supplies and clearing shelves.

Once the East Tosa costume and party shop closes, Bartz's will operate online and through its two locations in Menomonee Falls and Greenfield.

And Bartz's crop of stores could get smaller still: Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity has an offer to purchase agreement to buy the Bartz’s in Greenfield and could convert the facility into one of its ReStore locations.

According to its website, Bartz’s, The Party Store was founded in 1947 as a family-owned company that created displays for retailers and business events and eventually morphed into a party decor and costume shop. The company had previously operated a location in Waukesha.

TODAY'S TMJ4 partner the Milwaukee Business Journal made multiple attempts to reach out to Bartz's owners through email and phone calls but our inquiries were not returned
