Baby Zahra, a 9-month-old gorilla whose parents both unexpectedly died at the Milwaukee County Zoo, is receiving round-the-clock care at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in Ohio.
The Columbus Zoo reported Zahra is working with a human-assisted rearing team until she can be introduced to a surrogate mother.
On Sunday, Zahra passed her health exam with flying colors and the zoo says she has a “...delightful personality and can even be a little flirtatious!”
Zahra’s father, 31-year-old Cassius, died suddenly last April. Her mother, 17-year-old Naku, also passed away days later.
The Milwaukee County Zoo announced Zahra was moving to Columbus on Facebook last Friday.
