JACKSON -- Authorities have identified a man who was fatally shot by a police officer in Washington County.

A statement from the Wisconsin Department of Justice's Division of Criminal Investigation says police officers were called Friday evening to a home in Jackson where a domestic disturbance was taking place.

The department says officer Kyle Henning fired his weapon, striking 58-year-old Helmut Wihowski, who died from his injuries.

Henning has been a law enforcement officer since 2006 and a Jackson police officer since 2008.

The Division of Criminal Investigation will continue to investigate the shooting.
