A two-car crash between a pickup truck and a transit bus closed the southbound lanes of Highway 45 Friday morning in Barton.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reported that the crash knocked a county shared ride taxi bus on its side with one passenger trapped inside. Firefighters had to use an inflation device to free the passenger.
The passenger was flown to Froedtert Hospital via Flight for Life, which temporarily closed both lanes of the highway. The driver of the bus was not injured.
A preliminary investigation showed that the bus and pickup were both headed south and the pickup hit the bus while it tried to change lanes.
The sheriff was unable to give an update on the condition of the passenger, or the driver of the pickup truck.
