Arrest made after car flies over a roundabout at full speed in Manitowoc [VIDEO]

MANITOWOC — The Manitowoc Police Department has taken a 33-year-old man into custody after his vehicle flew over a roundabout at full speed.

Around 6:21 p.m. on Tuesday, Manitowoc police officers were called to an apartment building for the report of a man passed out in a black Chevrolet Impala.

Upon arrival, officers got out of their vehicles to check on the man. Police said he immediately fled the scene. By the time officers got back in their squad cars, they had lost sight of the black Impala and could not locate it.

A few minutes later, 911 dispatch got a call about an incident at the roundabout on Memorial Drive and Waldo Blvd. That incident involved a black Chevrolet Impala.

According to the Manitowoc Police Department, the vehicle had flown over the middle of the roundabout at full speed. The driver again fled the scene and police set up a perimeter.

Around 30 minutes later, police located the suspect thanks to a citizen. He was hiding under a bridge by the Little Manitowoc river.

The 33-year-old was then taken into custody without further incident, police said. He had sustained no injuries as a result of the accident.

According to police, the suspect was arrested and held at MTSO Jail on charges of operating a motor vehicle while impaired, 1st Degree recklessly endangering safety, obstructing an officer, possession of Methamphetamine with intent to deliver, possession of Fentanyl with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a probation hold.

He could face additional traffic violations following an investigation of the accident.
