Armed robbers break-in to Elm Grove elderly group home

Elm Grove Police Detectives said multiple suspects broke into a group home for elderly people shortly before midnight Monday night on Westmoor Terrace.

Officers said the armed suspects entered the home through an open door and took belongings from one of the caregivers.

Police said the suspects did not know the caregiver. But neighbors said it could be someone connected to an ex-employee.

“They’re the only one who knows they are elderly people and who would have the information would be the caregiver. That’s what the police told us” said a neighbor, who didn’t want to be identified.

The owner of the home Joel Banda said state law prohibits cameras in the home so there is no surveillance video of the incident. He also said the suspects tried to take a 65-inch television off the wall but couldn’t get it detached.

The suspect is still at large and the Elm Grove Police Department urged residents to keep their home and vehicle doors locked.
