MILWAUKEE -- An argument between a couple turned deadly Sunday morning.
The incident happened at approximately 3 a.m. near 94th Street and Bradley Road. A 38-year-old man allegedly shot and killed his 40-year-old girlfriend.
Milwaukee police identified the victim Monday as Teneya M. Little.
On Sunday afternoon, Daren Burns was outside the Little’s house hugging and consoling his 16-year-old daughter, who lost her mother to domestic violence.
“It's a terrible thing that's going on in our community, domestic violence issues. A lot of guys can't accept the word no,” Burns said.
Burns is the Little's ex-boyfriend. He said Little has a 10-year-old son with the suspect.
Burns said he is just thankful that the suspect didn't harm his daughter, who was inside the duplex when the fight between the couple escalated.
“As long as he didn't do anything to my daughter, you know, I feel sorry for her momma too, but I just wish he would of thought about what he did, you know, how he was going to affect everyone around him before he pulled that trigger," Burns said.
After shooting the victim, police said the suspect stayed inside the duplex and waited for officers to arrive. Little was rushed to the hospital where she later died.
“It's not fair to her but she's got to be strong,” Burns said.
Milwaukee police said they are still investigating this shooting and are not releasing the suspect's name at this time.
