Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission has one thought in mind this weekend: clear the shelter!
The animal shelter is holding an 'Empty the Shelter' event on Saturday in which they will waive all adoption fees for cats and dogs. All you have to do is show up to the shelter from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. and find your furry friend!
MADACC officials are hopeful that Empty the Shelter Day will help to create space for the anticipated influx of animals that will come to the shelter throughout October and November.
"When you adopt a companion from our facility, you're saving a life and taking home a dog or a cat that has already received all the basic veterinary services completed," said Karen Sparapani, executive director for MADACC. "Choosing to adopt a shelter animal is not only beneficial for the new pet parent or family, it also helps fight pet overpopulation in our community and, in turn, helps save more lives.”
More than 125 dogs, cats and kittens will be available at the adoption event. MADACC recommends that anyone who is planning on attending fills out a free and non-binding adoption application for pre-approval ahead of the event in order to cut down on wait times.
