Plans to bring more security cameras and lighting on streets are moving forward, and it's thanks to a big donation by Potawatomi representatives.

The $45,000 will help efforts with fighting crime on the south side of Milwaukee. The money will pay for six to seven surveillance cameras in addition to the 25 to 30 already installed.
?
"Together they make a much bigger impact," said Alderman Bob Donovan.

Marty Calderon grew up and still lives on the south side. He knows this helps because Milwaukee police can't be everywhere.
"People aren't going to want to do things when there's light out," said Calderon.

It's for the youth as well, that's why Donovan says the community is organizing and they want violators to know they're being watched.

"We're not turning our backs on it, we realize that these challenges are here, we're not trying to hide them, we're facing them head on and this is one way we can help improve the situation," said Donovan.
