MILWAUKEE — A 50-year-old man was shot and killed while driving on Milwaukee’s north side Sunday morning. Surveillance video obtained by TODAY’S TMJ4 may help police track down a suspect.

Milwaukee police said the man was shot while driving up Center Street by 45th Street at about 9:14 a.m. He then hit a pole two blocks away by 47th Street.

Lathelma Nash was in pain, after learning about the death of her first cousin.

“I don’t believe it. I’m shocked,” Nash said. “He take care of his kids. He work. He got a job. He a father,” she said.

Surveillance video from a local business shows the moments after the shooting. A man walking on the sidewalk, appears to hear gunshots, and then a black car speeds up Center Street. Seconds later, the victim’s red car comes into the frame, slowly coasting up the road, before crashing into a pole.

Timothy Caldwell had just arrived at work when he heard the gunshots.

“Pow, pow, pow, and that was it,” Caldwell said. “I heard three shots. I looked out and the next thing you know, dude had pulled into the pole. I tried to do my best, tried to help him out but I couldn’t do nothing,” he said.

He’s shaken by the experience, and is concerned by the violence plaguing the city.

“We’ve got kids out here, you know what I’m saying, elderly people out here,” Caldwell said.

However, he doesn’t know how to stop it.

“It’s going to continue. It’s going to continue because don’t nobody care no more,” Caldwell said.

As for Nash, she’s seeking answers as she mourns the loss of a loved one.

“He an angel. He didn’t deserve this,” Nash said.

Investigators are still looking for those responsible. If you have any information about what happened call Milwaukee police.
