MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office and Medical Examiner confirm a 46-year-old woman died Tuesday night in the Milwaukee County Jail.
According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, a correctional officer found the unresponsive inmate located in a pod of the jail around 7:30 p.m. and called medical staff.
Jail medical staff began performing CPR on the inmate. The Milwaukee Fire Department later arrived at the scene and continued lifesaving efforts, but were unsuccessful.
The inmate was pronounced dead at 8:10 p.m.
The Sheriffs' Office says the inmate was brought in to the jail on December 17 by the Milwaukee Police Department. The name of the inmate has not yet been released.
The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner has scheduled an autopsy Wednesday to determine the exact cause of death.
