LODI, Wis. — Four people have died and seven are injured after a series of crashes Friday morning near Lodi, Wis.
Three crashes occurred on I-39 North Friday morning beginning around 4 a.m. According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, there were no injuries in the initial accident, when a tractor-trailer rear-ended another.
A little over an hour later, a pickup truck crashed into that scene. A Columbia highway worker was seriously injured in addition to two state troopers who were hurt. All three of them were taken to a hospital.
Around 6:45 a.m., traffic began to pick back up in the area. That was when another tractor-trailer, which was traveling at highway speeds, smashed into at least seven other vehicles.
These vehicles included two other semis, a dump truck, and four passenger vehicles, according to the Wisconsin State Patrol
Four people were killed in that crash, and four more were injured, bringing the injured total to seven.
